As a Technical Translator

Since the end of 1990, I have dealt with technical translations. I began in a part-time job for a significant Brazilian telecommunications company, Splice Telecomunicações e Eletrônica SA, translating technical guides related to SDH equipments and management, cellular, satellite, trunking, and networking systems. In August 1998 I was invited by L&H Mendez to work full time on the localization process of R/3 ERP from SAP, a German-based leading software company. Since then, I have been working as a translator (alternating with TVT projects, per table above). There have been several translation projects, as follows:

— Great Magnitude: for Microsoft (Windows 2000, Windows Media Player, TechNet, Flight Simulator, MS Manager, etc); Yahoo (Auctions Home Page), JD Edwards (JDE OneWorld - ERP), Element Manager (EM) - SDH Network Management Center Guides (Marconi);

— Miscellaneous Subjects: Training Video Scripts (Tégula-Lafarge Braas Roofing), StarTAC & Series V3600 – Vehicular Kit - User’s Guide (Motorola), Consultant Agreements (CPqD), Technical Specifications for Public Bidding (TNE - Tele Norte Leste Partic.), A Series Universal Voice Messenger System (UVMS) – Administration and Operations Guide (Unisys); Automotive market: Scania, Belron (Source: pt_PT target: pt_BR about 70,000 words), among others; Ericsson (Training material: dynamic slides in ppt and guidebooks in pdf); printers guidebooks: Xerox, HP, Lexmark

—IBM: Countless PII (Program Integrated Information), and documentation translations, working as partner of IBM’s vendors: Berlitz Global Services, L&H Mendez, Ibéria Assessoria em Informática, LionBridge Technologies, and others.

As a Cost Analyst in a Logistics Department

From September 1997 to June 1998, I worked for De Villate Industrial Ltda., an aluminum casting plant that supplies molding cast parts to the automotive industry (Mercedes-Benz, Ford, MWM, Scania, etc.). My responsibilities included:

— After a Cost Survey Request: determining (based on parts' technical drawings) which departments and third-part suppliers should be added to the cost estimating process; coordinating all efforts of several participants; following up the process progress; gathering all information; preparing the commercial proposal.

— After an Order Validation: following the production process; classifying and analyzing labor, material, and other direct costs and overhead costs for preparing appropriated evaluating reports.

From Sales Representative to Commercial Manager

In 1990, I started a commercial carreer, first as a sales representative, then as a sales team leader, and later as a commercial manager in a telecommunication company. In the meantime, I used to open new customers, to write technical and commercial proposals, to train sales teams, to manage sales-technique workshops, to find out new approaching strategies, and mainly, to be a Master Sales Closer.

My work history in this period:

— Dec 1994 to Aug 1996 Commercial Manager at Autocon Eletrônica e Telecomunicações Ltda. (Telecommunications Company)

— May 1993 to Jul 1994 Sales Representative for PromaxBardahl”- Produtos Máximos Ltda. (Lubrificant Oil Industry)

— Dec 1991 to Mar 1993 Commercial Manager at Thermocon Refrigeração Ltda (Industrial Air-Conditioner and Air/Water-Cooled Chiller Maintenance Company)

— Jul 1991 to Dec 991 Sales Team Leader at Xerocopiadora J. B. Gonçalves Neto (Mita Copier Machine Representative)

— Jan 1990 to Jun 1991 Sales Representative at Logus Assessoria e Empreendimentos Imobiliários (Real Estate)
